A very good example of a keris from the Bugis influence island of Sumbawa. Finely carved handle in the burung serindit or cockatoo bird form is made of very hard ebony wood, and the top sheath made of hard kemuning woods, with the bottom stem made of angsena woods having a bufalo horn bottom tip. A thick brass pendoko or ferrule completes fittings.

Very sturdy straight or lurus blade with and angular profile, and an overall shape or dapor called sepokal in Malay.

Pamor pattern shows a peak like formations at the base called ujung gunung, and above it are pamor of the wos utah or scattered rice variations.
With two pamor patterns, it is also called dwi warna or bi colored.

Age: Krises are traditionally made without any date stampings or engravings of the makers’ name. Although a kris smith or “empu” has his own styles configured together with the dapor and especially the ganjar (cross piece). Obvious age wear and tear, usage, familiarity with forms, motifs and designs, origin and history, mediums and materials used are our guidelines in determining an approximate age. This particular piece, from our experience and knowledge, should go back to the middle 19th century, with 20th century hilt..
