Dietrich Drescher is arguably the most significant non-Indonesian figure alongside Garrett Solyom when it comes to the development of the keris in the 20th century. Thanks to his research and practical initiative, the Javanese keris culture, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, has revived after a long decline following the colonial era and the World Wars.
