A very good and rare example of a keris from the central Javanese region of Surakarta. Fittings in the gayaman Solo form with the hilt made of hard red woods and the sheath made from contrasting grains woods called pellet awar-awar.

Straight or lurus blade with rather plain base features or perabots having an overall profile or dapor called tilam sari in Javanese.

Pamor patterns are rare, and shows an overall background pamor called pulo tirto with three squarish formation at the base middle and top of the blade called pamor titipan. At the blunt side of the base or gandik, two rare horizontal insertions are seen and this is called simbang patawe.
With three pamor formation, it is also called tri warna or tri colored.

Age: Krises are traditionally made without any date stampings or engravings of the makers’ name. Although a kris smith or “empu” has his own styles configured together with the dapor and especially the ganjar (cross piece). Obvious age wear and tear, usage, familiarity with forms, motifs and designs, origin and history, mediums and materials used are our guidelines in determining an approximate age. This particular piece, from our experience and knowledge, should go back to the early19th century.
