A very good example of a knife called golok from the eastern Indonesian island of Sumbawa. Handle is made from buffalo horn with a repousse silver ferrule with the wooden sheath fully encased with finely reposed silver having floral and geometrical motifs.

Sturdy blade with single edge and a broad tip is typical of the golok from the region.

Pamor patterns are arranged in the mlumah technique of the wos utah or scattered rice pamor, having a peak like formation at the base called ujung gunung.
With two pamor arrangements it is also called dwi warna or bi colored.

Condition: Very good condition.
Age: Krises are traditionally made without any date stampings or engravings of the makers’ name. Although a kris smith or “empu” has his own styles configured together with the dapor and especially the ganjar (cross piece). Obvious age wear and tear, usage, familiarity with forms, motifs and designs, origin and history, mediums and materials used are our guidelines in determining an approximate age. This particular piece, from our experience and knowledge, should go back to the middle 19th century.
