$920.00

Another rare example of a keris from the northern Malaysian peninsular region of Kelantan. Newly made fittings with the jawa demam form hilt called the pekaka, finely carved from buffalo bone, and top sheath in the square kusiwo form made from very well selected kemuning woods with flashing grains. Bottom stem is made from angsana woods having a patat lipas, or roaches’ back bottom tip.
Long and very sturdy straight blade form, is rather broad with shallow fullers running along a prominent spine, having rather plain base features and has an overall shape or dapor called Tok Chu in Malay, or betok in Javanese.
Pamor patterns are not contrasting, which is the norms from the area and from the forging lines the arrangements are of the mlumah technique of the wos utah or scattered rice variation.

Length of blade: 15.5"
Overall length: 20"
Condition: Very good condition.
Age: Krises are traditionally made without any date stampings or engravings of the makers’ name. Although a kris smith or “empu” has his own styles configured together with the dapor and especially the ganjar (cross piece). Obvious age wear and tear, usage, familiarity with forms, motifs and designs, origin and history, mediums and materials used are our guidelines in determining an approximate age. This particular piece, from our experience and knowledge, should go back to the early 19th century blade with newly made fittings.
