A very good and rare example of a keris from the northern Malaysian peninsular region of Kelantan or Terengganu. Handle in the anak ayam teleng or cuddly chick form, is made from natural amethyst gemstone or kecubong in Malay. Top sheath in the square tebeng form is made from kemuning woods with flashing grains. Bottom stem is made of well grained wood with a thick silver alloy ferrule or pendoko to complete fittings.

Very sturdy blade with prominent spine and well executed base features or perabots, having an angled profile called sepokal in Malay.

Pamor patterns are not contrasting as it is the norm to use less nickel but more of iron and steel metals. From the forging lines, the pamor is of the kulit semangko or water melon skin pamor.

Condition: Very good condition.
Age: Krises are traditionally made without any date stampings or engravings of the makers’ name. Although a kris smith or “empu” has his own styles configured together with the dapor and especially the ganjar (cross piece). Obvious age wear and tear, usage, familiarity with forms, motifs and designs, origin and history, mediums and materials used are our guidelines in determining an approximate age. This particular piece, from our experience and knowledge, should go back to the late 19th century with newly made hilt..
