A very good example of a keris from the southern Malaysian peninsular region with strong Bugis influences. Handle in the pistol grip or kerdas form is made from tiger eye gemstone, which is exceptional. Top sheath is in the less common kusiwo from with the bottom stem having a patat lipas or roaches back bottom tip. A thick well repose brass ferrule of pendoko completes fittings.

Long and very sturdy blade with 7 luks or waves and well executed base features or perabots, that has an overall shape or dapor called carita in Javanese.

Pamor patterns shows a peak like formation at the base called nunggak semi, arranged in the mlumah technique of the biji nangka or jackfruit seeds pamor.

Condition: Very good condition.
Age: Krises are traditionally made without any date stampings or engravings of the makers’ name. Although a kris smith or “empu” has his own styles configured together with the dapor and especially the ganjar (cross piece). Obvious age wear and tear, usage, familiarity with forms, motifs and designs, origin and history, mediums and materials used are our guidelines in determining an approximate age. This particular piece, from our experience and knowledge, should go back to the late 19th century blade with late 20th century fittings.
