A very good and fine example of a keris from island of Lombok. Handle in the cylindrical form called geratiman has its origins from the Shiva phallus. It is made of wood, and fully encased with silver and studded with gemstones, having the grip made from very fine silver thread weavings. Top sheath is made from hard ebony or kenaung woods, with the back of the bottom stem encased with well repoussed silver having the endless swirl motifs at the top.

Long, very sturdy and thick blade with rare 15 waves or luks and base features of perabots that is well executed and very pronounced. With more than 13 luks the overall shape of the keris or dapor is called kala wija.

Pamor patterns are arranged in the mlumah technique of the kulit semangko or watermelon skin pamor, which is said to enhance the owner’s popularity.

Length of blade: 18.5"
Overall length: 28"
Condition: Very good condition.
Age: Krises are traditionally made without any date stampings or engravings of the makers’ name. Although a kris smith or “empu” has his own styles configured together with the dapor and especially the ganjar (cross piece). Obvious age wear and tear, usage, familiarity with forms, motifs and designs, origin and history, mediums and materials used are our guidelines in determining an approximate age. This particular piece, from our experience and knowledge, should go back to the late 19th century.
