Very good example of a small keris called patrem for feminine use, from the central Javanese regions of Jogjakarta. Fittings in the gayaman Jogja forms are made from well selected pelet woods with naturally occurring contrasting grains. Bottom stem is encased with plain brass stem cover or pendok blewah, with a green velvet mid-section.

Straight or lurus blade with plain base features or perabots, having the base cross piece or ganjar made one with the blade, called ganjar seiras.

Pamor patterns are forged in the miring technique showing one side having vertical lines called pamor adeg or standing pamor, and on the other side the vertical line forms peaks at the tips called junjung darjat.
With two pamor patterns, it is also called dwi warna or bi colored.

Condition: Aside from minor blade edge wears, rest is all in very good condition..
Age: Krises are traditionally made without any date stampings or engravings of the makers’ name. Although a kris smith or “empu” has his own styles configured together with the dapor and especially the ganjar (cross piece). Obvious age wear and tear, usage, familiarity with forms, motifs and designs, origin and history, mediums and materials used are our guidelines in determining an approximate age. This particular piece, from our experience and knowledge, should go back to the Early 17th century blade with restored 19th century fittings..
