A good example of a keris from the southern Sulawesi region of Bugis. Handle in the kerdas form and top sheath in the tebeng form, is made from very well selected kemuning woods, Bottom stem or gandar is having well repoused white metal panels. A thick white brass ferrule or pendoko complete fittings.

Thick and very sturdy blade with prominent spine and 5 luks or waves and very well executed base features, having an overall shape or dapor called pendawa.

Pamor patterns are arranged in the mlumah technique showing a peak like formation at the base called pamor ujung gunung or mountain peak with circumference pamor wengkon.
With two pamor patterns it is also called dwi warna or bi colored.

Condition: Very good condition.
Age: Krises are traditionally made without any date stampings or engravings of the makers’ name. Although a kris smith or “empu” has his own styles configured together with the dapor and especially the ganjar (cross piece). Obvious age wear and tear, usage, familiarity with forms, motifs and designs, origin and history, mediums and materials used are our guidelines in determining an approximate age. This particular piece, from our experience and knowledge, should go back to the middle19th early with recently fitted white metal panels..
