Keris Sumbawa Lurus Sepokal Tiga Sogokan – Very good and rare example of a keris from the eastern islands of Sumbawa. Handle in the kerdas form and top sheath are made from very well selected kemuning woods with natural flashing grains having a white buffalo horn top cover. Bottom stem is made of angsena woods having a horn bottom tip. Base of hilt is having fine silver wire weavings with a thick brass or pendoko to complete the fittings.

Very long blade is very sturdy with a prominent thick spine and angled profile, with deep triple fullers along the bottom half of the blade. Very well executed and deep base features or perabots having an angled profile called sepokal in Malay.

Pamor patterns are condense, and are arranged in the mlumah technique with an overall pattern called kulit semangko or melon’s skin. The pamor kulit semangko is said to enhance the owner’s popularity.

Age:  Krises are traditionally made without any date stampings or engravings of the makers' name. Although a kris smith or "empu" has his own styles configured together with the dapor and especially the ganjar (cross piece). Obvious age wear and tear, usage, familiarity with forms, motifs and designs, origin and history, mediums and materials used are our guidelines in determining an approximate age. This particular piece, from our experience and knowledge, should go back to the late 19th century.

Length of blade: 16".   Overall length: 20.3".
