Keris Melayu Bugis Luk 5 Wengkon Pamor Miang Another very good and rather rare example of a keris from the Malaysian peninsular regions. Handle in the kerdas or pistol grip form, and the top sheath or sampir in the typical Bugis tebeng form, are made of hard and very well selected kemuning woods with natural flashing grains. Bottom stem is made from angsena woods with tigers stripe grains having a kemuning wooden bottom tip. A well reposed thick brass ferrule or pendoko to complete fittings.

Very sturdy blade with 5 waves or luks and well executed base features or perabots with a flat surface and angled edge making it having a hexagonal cross section that is common in Bugis blades.

Pamor pattern are arranged in the miring technique, showing a peak like formation on one side of the base called ujung gunung, and circumference lines called pamor wengkon. The background pamor metals have a crystalline like characteristics that is called pamor miang in Malay.
The pamor ujung gunung is said to enhance the owners status, while the pamor wengkon is said to be of the protective nature.

This particular piece, from our experience and knowledge, should go back to the late 19th century.
