Keris Jawa Betok Toya Mambeg.

Keris Jawa Betok Toya Mambeg - Another very good and rare example of a short and broad keris from the central or eastern Javanese regions. Fittings in the sandang walikat forms are made from well selected fragranced sandal wood or cendana wangi. A brass ferrule with zircon stone insertions completes fittings.

Very rare blade form that is broad and rather flat with very well executed base features or perabots, that has the elongated gandik called kebo teki using two kembang kacang or elephant trunk like feature. It has an overall shape or dapor called betok.

Pamor pattern are very well executed in the miring technique and shows horizontal lines called pamor toya mambeg. It is said to prevent the owner�s wealth from deteriorating.

Age:  Krises are traditionally made without any date stampings or engravings of the makers' name. Although a kris smith or "empu" has his own styles configured together with the dapor and especially the ganjar (cross piece). Obvious age wear and tear, usage, familiarity with forms, motifs and designs, origin and history, mediums and materials used are our guidelines in determining an approximate age. This particular piece, from our experience and knowledge, should go back to the mid to late 20th century.
